This Webquest was designed for high school or college students. This assignment is one that can be completed during two class periods. Depending on how your class situation is arranged, the students can complete the bulk of this assignment outside of the classroom.

If your class has a lab time, the research portion should be able to completed in one or two class sessions.

The reading of the narrative is an important part of this assignment. This WebQuest was designed with flexibility in mind.

You can collect page one first or you can collect the entire assignment at once.

It is important that the students really do the research on their own. In the few instances that we tested the WebQuest high school students became quite comfortable with "sharing" the answers to the questions. So as a teacher you may want to require this assignment to be completed in class and to monitor the research process and to strongly warn students about "sharing." The purpose of the assignment is that they really learn the information they need to know about DNA testing.
